Japan 10-Year Government Bond Yield

The yield on newly issued 10-year Japanese government bonds (JGBs) is Japan's benchmark long-term interest rate. It affects mortgage rates, corporate borrowing costs and the yen. This page shows the closing yield at the end of each month.

📖 How to read this indicator

Long-term yields reflect expectations for future short-term rates and inflation, as well as the supply of and demand for government bonds. From 2016 the Bank of Japan kept the 10-year yield close to zero under yield curve control; after the policy was gradually loosened and ended in March 2024, the yield has moved more freely with the market.
