Japan Industrial Production Index
The Indices of Industrial Production measure the output of Japan's mining and manufacturing industries. This page shows the production, shipments and inventory indices, based on 2020 = 100.
📖 How to read this indicator
Production rising together with shipments points to firm demand, while inventories building up as shipments fall can be an early sign that production will be cut. Because manufacturing reacts quickly to the business cycle, industrial production is one of the components of Japan's coincident composite index.
